Santa Ana, CA at a Glance
Santa Ana was established and named after Saint Anne in 1769 and the city was
designated the county seat when Orange
County separated from Los Angeles
in 1889. As one of the ten largest cities in California,
Santa Ana boasts numerous attractions including museums, universities and a science
center. The Santa
Ana Zoo provides an oasis in the middle of the structured concrete and glass,
with a collection of animals that includes monkeys, elephants and a large aviary.
Meanwhile, the Discovery
Science Center engages children and adults alike with many hands-on exhibits
that teach the physical principles behind aerodynamics, waves and other natural
phenomena. The Bowers
Museum showcases collections from all over the world alongside their permanent
displays. Hotel and restaurant choices are numerous and visitors have little trouble
getting to Santa Ana as the John
Wayne Airport is located close by.
