Santa Ana Travel Guide
Welcome to Santa Ana, CA!
Santa Ana was established and named after Saint Anne in 1769 and the city was designated the county seat when Orange County separated from Los Angeles in 1889. As one of the ten largest cities in California, Santa Ana boasts numerous attractions including museums, universities and a science center. The Santa Ana Zoo provides an oasis in the middle of the structured concrete and glass, with a collection of animals that includes monkeys, elephants and a large aviary. Meanwhile, the Discovery Science Center engages children and adults alike with many hands-on exhibits that teach the physical principles behind aerodynamics, waves and other natural phenomena. The Bowers Museum showcases collections from all over the world alongside their permanent displays. Hotel and restaurant choices are numerous and visitors have little trouble getting to Santa Ana as the John Wayne Airport is located close by.
